Supporting communities through tourism in Uganda

Promoting Uganda communities through tourism with Msafiri Tours

At Msafiri Tours, we believe that tourism should do more than showcase Uganda’s breathtaking beauty — it should also empower its people. Over the years, we have partnered with local communities to integrate community development projects into our travel experiences. This ensures that while visitors enjoy unforgettable safaris, cultural encounters, and nature adventures, they also leave a lasting positive impact. We are Promoting Uganda communities through tourism

How We Support Communities

Through tourism, we provide opportunities for visitors to engage in meaningful projects, such as:

  • Building Schools, Clinics, and Medical Centers – including the Suubi Medical Centre, providing essential healthcare services to rural communities.

  • Water Projects – improving access to clean water in remote areas.

  • Disability Support Projects – supporting initiatives like Wanjawulo in Iganga, empowering people with disabilities.

  • Sustainable Agriculture Initiatives – promoting eco-friendly farming and food security through our small farm project.

  • Street Children Programs in Kampala – offering shelter, education, and support to vulnerable children.

  • Support to Philomera Babies Home & Orphanage – providing care and love to abandoned and orphaned children.

  • Tree Planting and Reforestation – protecting Uganda’s environment for future generations.

Partnering for Greater Impact

Many of the lodges and campsites we work with also support local initiatives, from running health clinics and schools to offering micro-credit schemes. This collaborative approach helps strengthen local economies, improve livelihoods, and foster self-sufficiency.

Schools We Support

  • Busu Primary School – located in Busu Village, Kigulu County.

  • Bishop Willis Demonstration School for the Blind – in CMS, Bulamagi Sub-county, Iganga District. Established in 1968 by Pat Holder, this school allows visually impaired children to learn alongside sighted students in mainstream classrooms.

Women Empowerment & Development

We actively support women’s groups and development projects, focusing on skill-building, income generation, and sustainable community growth.
