This carefully crafted itinerary is designed to offer students an unforgettable blend of adventure, cultural immersion, and educational experiences across Uganda’s most iconic destinations. From the bustling capital of Kampala to the breathtaking landscapes of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, this journey provides a unique opportunity to explore Uganda’s rich history, diverse wildlife, and vibrant communities.

Students will engage in interactive learning experiences, volunteer initiatives, and hands-on activities that foster personal growth, leadership skills, and global awareness. Along the way, participants will enjoy guided safaris, cultural encounters, and excursions that highlight Uganda’s natural beauty and heritage.

Day 1: Departure

• Travel  to London Heathrow Airport (LHR).

• Depart on Rwanda Air for Uganda.

Day 2: Arrival in Kampala

• Arrive at Entebbe Airport at and transfer to Eureka Hotel, Kampala.

• Lunch at the hotel.

• Afternoon: Visit the Cathedral, withdraw cash, and stop at a local supermarket to buy snacks.

• Evening: Settle in at the hotel and relax.

Day 3: Journey to Iganga via Jinja

• Breakfast at the hotel.

• Depart for Iganga, stopping at Mabira Forest Market for a short forest walk (30 mins) and enjoy a fresh fruit platter.

• Continue to Jinja for a local lunch: try a Rolex (Ugandan street food wrap).

• Arrive in Iganga and drive through Busu Village to familiarize with project locations.

• Check in at Mum Resort Hotel, rest, and prepare for the next day.

Day 4: Community Engagement & Projects

• Morning:

  • 9:00 AM: Introductions at the school (1 hour).

  • Experience a Ugandan lesson (30 mins).

  • Walk around the village (30 mins).

  • Visit Denis’s house for lunch (12:30–1:00 PM).

• Afternoon: Plan projects in small groups and purchase resources (paints, timber, craft materials).

• Evening: Student-led entertainment at Mum Resort.

Day 5:  Project Rotation Day 1

• Morning: Project rotation 1

• Lunch at Denis’s house

• Afternoon: Project rotation 2

• Evening: Student-led entertainment at Mum Resort

Day 6: Project Rotation Day 2

• Morning: Project rotation 3

• Lunch at Denis’s house

• Afternoon: Project rotation 4

• Evening: Dinner and cultural experience in the village

Day 7: Cultural Immersion & NGO Visit

• Morning: Cultural activities in the village, split into small groups, spending time with local families.

• Lunch: Enjoy a meal with local families or at Denis’s house.

• Afternoon: Visit an NGO such as St. Philomena Orphanage and Babies Home – Kigulu.

• Evening: Last evening celebration with dinner by the pool, music, and dance.

Day 8: Return to Kampala & Ndere Show

• Breakfast and depart for Kampala. Expected arrival at Eureka Hotel in the afternoon.

• Leisurely lunch and rest.

• Evening: Attend the Ndere Cultural Music Show, featuring traditional music and dance from across Uganda. Buffet dinner provided (drinks at own expense).

Day 9: Journey to Nile Breeze Lodge

• Drive to Nile Breeze Lodge via Karuma, stopping for lunch in Nakasongola.

• Afternoon: Free time to relax at the lodge.

• Evening: Dinner at the lodge.

Day 10: Nile River Adventure

• Breakfast at 9:00 AM

• Boat safari on the Nile

• Lunch at the lodge

• Afternoon: Optional activities – swimming, fishing, massage, games

• Evening: Dinner and campfire

Day 11: Wednesday, July 10th – Murchison Falls Safari

• Early morning game drive (6:00 AM, 4 hours)

• Bush breakfast in the park

• Visit and explore Murchison Falls, with hiking opportunities

• Late lunch at lodge

• Afternoon: Relax at the lodge

• Evening: Dinner and campfire

Day 12: Return to Kampala & Souvenir Shopping

• Depart early (5:30 AM) to Kampala via the park

• Lunch at Eureka Hotel

• Afternoon: Walking tour of Kampala and visit craft markets for souvenirs

Day 13: Departure to the UK

• Breakfast at 6:30 AM

• Transfer to Entebbe Airport for 11:00 AM flight back to the UK

Day 14: Arrival in the UK

• Arrive at LHR at 07:00 AM

• Coach transfer back to Exeter College

Project Rotations

Each group of 5–6 students rotates through the following activities over 2 days:

1. Educational murals

2. Tree planting (purchase and plant trees)

3. Building benches, rainwater harvesting, or sanitation/handwashing facilities

4. Sports/football tournaments
