There are countless benefits to spending a night or the weekend in the Ugandan wilderness and learning the essential skills needed to survive without the comforts of home. Under the guidance of experienced Ugandan tribal bushcraft instructors, you will learn fundamental survival skills that are crucial for thriving in the wilderness. From learning how to light a fire to building your own shelter, you will acquire the necessary skills to navigate and adapt to the natural environment.

One of the key skills you will learn is how to purify water. This is a vital skill as clean drinking water is essential for survival. The instructors will teach you different methods of water purification, ensuring that you have access to safe and potable water throughout your wilderness adventure.

Additionally, you will learn how to prepare your own meals using only the resources available in the wilderness. From constructing traps and snares to catching fish, rabbits, and birds, you will gain knowledge about procuring food in a sustainable and ethical manner. By participating in the preparation and cooking process, you will develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the food you consume.

What covered in our Uganda Bush craft experiences;

  • Pangas, and knives: we’ll be providing all the tools and materials for the experience. If you’d like to bring your own you’re very welcome, but please respect our decision if we suggest you use our tools instead.
  • Cutting techniques: Using the Pangas, Spears, arrows and knife you’ll learn the foundational cutting techniques for easy and efficient woodcrafts.
  • Critical fire lighting skills to ensure you can light a fire no matter the weather
  • A forest walk, including plant and tree ID, natural navigation and perhaps a little foraging too
  • Preparing and cooking meals outdoors, and the importance of maintaining a campfire
  • Including how to prepare bush food (inc meat, fish, rabbit, squirrel, roast maize over the fire. We will provide as ethically sourced meat as possible.
  • Breakfast cooking, bannock and swift ways to rekindle a fire in the morning
  • Fetching Water , filtering and making it safe to drink
  • Tool maintenance – how to keep your sharps sharp in the field
  • Learn about the uses of different plants.
