What to expect in Busu on our Traditional Ugandan village stays
The Busu village in Uganda is made up of either circular dwellings or rectangular homes topped with roofs constructed from grass or corrugated iron. The walls are crafted from handcrafted mud bricks, with concrete being a rarity; however, wealthier families might be able to afford it. Similarly, wall painting is seldom undertaken.
The stonehouse farm homestead however provides bouth in door and outdoor cooking facilities on fire wood, charcol and gas
In the village, there is a small shop run by an individual. Here, one can purchase cigarettes, tea, candy, cookies, sardines, and other essential goods. Fruits and vegetables are not available at this shop; they are sold by the roadside by the women who cultivated them. Regarding vegetables, the selection is often limited to onions and tomatoes, with the possibility of other varieties depending on the season.
In Busu village, there is a mosque and two churches, one Catholic and one Protestant, which stand out as the most exquisite edifices. Despite the limited availability of electricity in the majority of the village, a handful of residents have small solar lighting systems to combat the darkness when the moon is absent. At the farmhouse facility we visit, solar lighting is utilized along with a few functional sockets for charging basic electronic devices.
